Dermal Fillers | Add volume to thinning skin
If you’d like to smooth any lines and folds in the face or reduce your crow’s feet, dermal fillers can achieve this perfectly. It works especially well wherever there has been volume loss as a result of aging as well as after weight loss. They will plump up thinning skin and reduce sunken areas, or scarring, to give your face a more even contour and a younger, fresher appearance. They can also define and fill out lips as well as used in sculpting a face that lacks high cheekbones for instance. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances containing hyaluronic acid, which are inserted into the face to add volume to the skin and provide a rejuvenating effect. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally prevalent substance in our body, found in the connective tissue under the skin.

What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances which are used to add volume to the skin. The hyaluronic acid they contain is a type of polysaccharide called a glycosaminoglycan. It occurs naturally in the human body and is key in regulating cell growth and renewal. Fillers will plump up specific areas of the face or body and in doing so, they can reduce signs of ageing, such as lines, wrinkles or scars.
Can anyone have dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How long will it take for me to see a difference?
You will notice the difference straight away, but there may be slight swelling and redness due to the trauma of the needle that needs to settle first.
Is it painful?
A numbing cream containing a local anaesthetic will be applied to your skin prior to treatment. Juvederm and Restylane; the leading brand of fillers we use, also contain some anaesthetic. In some cases you can have a local anaesthetic similar to the ones you receive at the dentist to give you nearly full numbness in very sensitive areas. If you experience any discomfort, it will only be slight.
Are they safe?
Dermal fillers have an excellent safety record. As with many treatments, they carry a slight risk of allergic reaction and infection. During your consultation we will discuss the risks with you, as well as the measures we take to prevent complications from the occurring.
What do lip enhancements involve?
Dermal fillers can help redefine lip contours, regain lost volume, or create a more alluring look. Lips are very sensitive, so you will receive an anaesthetic beforehand. The treatment lasts for up to 9 months.
